Somesuch welcome filmmaker and photographer Lydia Garnett to its global roster, representing her across commercials, music videos, and branded content.

Garnett is known for crafting intimate, richly textured work at the intersection of style, subculture, and identity. Their films and photographs explore ritual, collectivity, and play, always rooted in a sharp, stylistic sensibility and a deep understanding of underground culture.

In 2025, Garnett directed Last Exit on Bethnal, a poetic and surreal exploration of power and sexuality set in a fantastical underworld, created to mark the release of Hannah Holland’s latest album. The film premiered this April at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London.

Garnett also recently co-directed Statue In The Square for Kae Tempest, a striking celebration of trans love and defiance made in collaboration with the Boy Dykes collective. Their previous music video Lonely Cowgirl, a fantasy western utopia for punk band Trouble Wanted, received a UKMVA nomination and won the prestigious Iris Prize.

A multidisciplinary artist, Garnett moves fluidly between film and photography. Their 2022 photo series and short film Close Shave, which honours Dyke, Butch, and transmasc haircuts, was widely acclaimed for its visceral intimacy and cultural resonance. Drawing inspiration from the legacy of Catherine Opie and Phyllis Christopher, the project used hair as a transcultural symbol of tenderness, identity, and desire.

Commercially, Garnett has collaborated with leading global brands including Dior, Nike, Adidas, Dr. Martens, and Timberland, and their editorial work has appeared in publications such as Gay Times and Altered States.

With a unique vision grounded in authenticity and aesthetic precision, Garnett brings an exciting new voice to the Somesuch family.
