This weekend (21-24th Sept) saw the brightest and best in AdLand descend on the glorious town of Kinsale in Ireland to celebrate the 55th year of the Sharks Awards… and pick up some awards whilst they were at it.

Throughout the festival, key speakers spoke on important themes and challenges in the industry. Amongst the most noteworthy were Andy Sandoz  - CCO Deloitte – whose ‘Enjoy Yourself, It’s Later Than You Think’ talk concerned itself with the concept ‘Use all the tech you can to be as human as you can’, Rosie Arnold – Creative Partner and Head of Art AMV – with an ‘Un-Stereotype the World’ presentation, asking us to undo the stereotypes ingrained in our advertising and Carrie Reichardt – Artist and Activist – who spoke on the power of art to show the true potential of what people are capable of.

Alongside the talks, awards were handed out to Short Film, Music Video and Advertising worthy winners. In short film, direction awards were picked up by Alan Lawson (International) and Kevin de la Isla O'Neill (Ireland) for their films ‘It's Complicated’ and ‘Acorn’ respectively, with ‘For You’, ‘Cake’ and ‘Play The Game’ all garnering Best Short Film sharks.

In Music video ‘Leningrad – Kolshik’, ‘Makeba – jain’ and ‘The Weeknd - False Alarm’ took home honours for Best International vid, with ‘Talos – Reborn’ named as the Irish promo of choice.
