JBL launches 80 Years of Powering Voices campaign
Charlie Sarsfield directs a cinematic tribute to eight decades of sound, culture and self-expression for JBL’s 80 Years of Powering Voices campaign.
For 80 years, JBL has helped shape the way culture sounds. Now, to mark the brand’s 80th anniversary, JBL has launched 80 Years of Powering Voices, a cinematic campaign directed by Charlie Sarsfield at Untold Studios.
The campaign tracks JBL’s role in amplifying culture across eight decades, from the silver screen first finding its voice, to music breaking out of tight rooms and filling fields, streets, cities and stadiums. It is a film about technology, memory and the voices that move people: the loud ones that shook the world, and the quieter ones that needed to be heard.
At the centre of the campaign is a simple idea: sound is an open stage. Across the film, technology evolves and culture transforms, but the belief stays constant, real voices deserve space, volume and presence.

JBL brings generations of products together, arranged as an orchestra providing a vivid metaphor of the harmony between their products and the voices they have powered all these years.
Sarsfield brought scale and texture to the film, building a visual language that moves between archival memory and contemporary spectacle. The craft mirrors the campaign’s central tension: a brand with deep heritage, speaking to a new generation for whom sound is identity, community and self-expression.
As JBL enters its next decade, "Celebrating 80 Years Powering Voices” looks back at the moments it helped make louder, while pointing toward the voices still to come.
