American blues rock musician Jack White has unveiled this wonderfully eccentric music video for his 2024 track Archbishop Harold Holmes, directed by Gilbert Trejo through half/half.
Featuring and conceptualised by the singer’s long-time friend, actor John C. Reilly, the promo draws on White’s signature midnight blue colour scheme with a bold opening shot of a vintage blue Corona typewriter.
Perfectly encapsulating White’s lyrics, which roll in perfect sync from Reilly’s tongue like a crazed evangelical sermon, the film sees the actor preaching to an invigorated church congregation as lightning shoots from the pulpit and through his animated limbs. The brilliantly bizarre scenes come to an unexpected conclusion as Trejo reveals they were merely the grandiose imaginings of a mentally-ill man receiving electrical shock therapy in an asylum.
