The twelfth Super Bowl campaign for Squarespace features two-time Academy Award-winning actor and producer Emma Stone as she attempts to register a website in her own name.

However, despite those two Oscars, numerous other awards and heaps of critical acclaim, even Stone can't control who gets to own emmastone.com, and the realisation of this sends the usually placid Stone into a laptop-wrecking frenzy. The call to action is simple: get your domain before you lose it.

The 100-second spot is created in-house at Squarespace and directed by Yorgos Lathimos - a frequent collaborator with Stone, in films such as The Favourite and Poor Things - through Superprime, and is shot in black-and-white analogue film, giving the spot a beautiful and dramatic German expressionist feel.

“This commercial is based on true events," said Stone. "Having the opportunity to play myself in my own home was a joy and a memory I won’t soon forget, despite the pain that came rushing back. Thank you Squarespace for honouring my experience.”

The Big Game spot is the centrepiece of a broader campaign showing Stone's journey to reclaim her namesake domain. Additional films include The Negotiation, which captures Stone’s increasingly desperate attempts to get her domain name back, as well as A Message from Emma Stone, a PSA-style film highlighting the risks of waiting too long to claim one, which sits on emmastone.com.

“We approach our Super Bowl spots like film rollouts,” said David Lee, Chief Brand and Creative Officer at Squarespace. “That mindset pushes us to create a fully-realised world that feels cinematic rather than commercial. This year, Emma’s emotional performance paired with Lanthimos’ meticulous direction, delivers a story where the stakes are immediately clear.”
