Work Editorial announce that editor Ben Cowan will be joining the Work roster. Cowan is currently based in London and is represented by Work globally.

Growing up in Lincoln, Cowan moved to London to pursue a career in editing, learning his craft at Londons top edit houses and is now finishing up his third year as an editor.

For Cowan, the editing process begins with continuous observation of the craft. "There is a constant wave of commercials and promos coming out daily, and studying them naturally informs the technical decisions I make in my own edits. In my opinion, editing comes down to personal taste, rhythm, and how you read people on screen. Because my own experiences are constantly shifting, my approach to every project continues to adapt."

Cowan also attributes his success to the power of team work. "Making films is a collaborative process and as much as I do relish time on my own, I think the best work gets made when discussions happen," Cowan explains. "I particularly enjoy what comes out of a director or client watching something for the first time. Being able to put options against each other and discussing their merit keeps things engaging and interesting.”

Cowan has collaborated on commercial projects for the likes of Oatly, Apple, Nike and Netflix, as well as music promos for Lola Young, Teddy Swims, Jonas Brothers and many others. 2025 saw Cowan nominated for his editing talent at the Young Arrows and Creative Circle Awards where he is currently nominated again in 2026. Another highlight is the short film The Hold directed by JD Donnelly winning both Best Documentary and Best of Festival at Aesthetica Film Festival.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ben to Work,” says Founding Partner Jane Dilworth. “Ben is a skilled editor with an incredible career ahead of him. His attitude and skills are impeccable, and the partners and I are genuinely excited about our future together.”

Like all editors at Work, Cowan is deeply dedicated to the craft. “Everywhere I’ve worked, I’ve been surrounded by top editors, and finding that environment again was a major deciding factor for me,” says Ben. “Being able to draw on the experience of those around me is vital. I’ve known of Work for a long time, but meeting Jane, Neil, Bill, and Frankie made it clear this was the right fit and so far everyone has been lovely and welcoming.”

“Both from meeting Ben and looking through his work, his attitude and ambition have blown me away,” says Frankie Elster, EP in London. “He is a great talent, and I am genuinely excited about working with him.”
