Newly formed Caviar directing duo D+Y, aka David Vu and Yasmin Hero, introduce their partnership with the release of this bold and creatively choreographed film produced through Nakama Film, titled Aka To Shiro.
The attention-grabbing short centres around a young boy navigating the emotional pressure of baseball. Rather than relying on dialogue, the film unfolds through dance and cinematic rhythm, using movement as the narrative language through which the character gradually finds his confidence.
David Vu from D+Y says: “We wanted to mark our debut as a director duo in a way that felt true to our hearts. And coming from a background of dance, the dream was always to shoot choreography on film. The honest texture in the image combined with the open gate really allows the choreography to breathe within the frame, which was really important for a project like this.”
