Belgian production company De Machine has signed writer-director Jonas Govaerts for exclusive commercial representation in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Govaerts is known for his genre-driven work across features Welp and H4Z4RD, and as the creator-director behind Tabula Rasa, which found an international audience beyond Belgium. More recently, he has been involved in series such as F*** You Very Much and Amsterdam Empire, further expanding his work across long-form storytelling.
His directing combines tightly controlled tone with a distinctive visual style, often blending grounded realism with stylised, offbeat elements. Alongside his film work, he continues to develop original projects as a writer, while his background as a guitarist in The Hickey Underworld feeds into a strong sense of rhythm and pacing.
The signing reinforces De Machine’s focus on directors who bring clear visual authorship and a high level of craft across departments, from performance and art direction to VFX and sound.
“Jonas builds worlds rather than just shoots scenes,” says Dimitri De Wolf, executive producer at De Machine. “That way of thinking fits how we approach production, as a fully integrated process.”
Beyond commercial work, the collaboration will also extend into short-form projects and music videos.
