Charles Gamble heads to the Cabin
Gamble has recently won Gold for Editing at this year’s Young Arrows and was named Best New Editor at the International Kinsale Shark Awards.
Cabin Europe welcome award-winning editor Charles Gamble to its growing team.
Gamble has recently won Gold for Editing at this year’s Young Arrows and was named Best New Editor at the International Kinsale Shark Awards, he is quickly solidifying his place as a standout young talent in the industry.
Gamble’s work is influenced by a passion for emotionally resonant stories, his current sweet spot is the intersection of music, culture, fashion and football … particularly football, most notably West Ham, a special connection that not only fuels his appreciation of football centric film making but bridges family ties, his Great Grandad played for them, and now his entire family are season ticket holders.
His growing portfolio is a testament to his reputation, already including campaigns for iconic brands like Nike Jordan, Adidas, Chelsea FC, Fifa, Marshall and Old Spice. Collaborations with directors, Illimiteworld, Fa & Fon, RVBBERDUCK, Milo Blake and Keane Pearce Shaw to name a few, and working with renowned agencies and production houses including Uncommon, Saatchi & Saatchi, PRETTYBIRD, riff raff and Spindle.
Kayt Hall said: "When we set up Cabin I wrote a list of editors to watch because as we grew I knew we'd be looking for specific talent. Charles was on that list from very early on. Not only is he a wonderful person, but he also perfectly complements our mission of being a go-to destination for directors looking for collaborative creative and thoughtful partnerships. I couldn’t be happier to have him on our roster"
Gamble's journey into the world of filmmaking was no chance opportunity. While at Brighton University he made the most of the deserted film making facilities with his friend Charlie Knight (now a DP – I’ll get the name from CG). But Gamble found himself rescuing his own directing efforts in the editing room.
He soon discovered his passion lay in the editing room rather than on set. A self-taught bedroom editor during COVID Gamble honed his skills working on Thomas Davis’ projects, now with Common People Films, who he had met running on his shoot and offered to cut his work for free. This led to collaborations with a range of directors, including actor Josh Dylan. For whom he is currently cutting a feature documentary.
A firm believer in mentorship and collaboration, Gamble lives by an inclusive approach, "Sharing knowledge and fostering open creative environments leads to better work," Charles says. "We all grow when we lift each other up."
Hall agrees “This speaks volumes about him and it’s part of our DNA at Cabin.”
