Created by Mekanism and directed by Christopher Brown through Animals, this poignant film for The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) uses a powerful visual metaphor to capture the confusing experience of seeking mental health care.
Seamlessly blending impressive set design, clever practical techniques and VFX, the nightmarish film follows a young person trapped in a sprawling maze, each endless corridor or dead end representing the long waitlists, phone calls and referrals required to access mental health care.
To create a sense of visceral sense of panic and disorientation, the director of photography, Kris Bonnell, ran alongside the protagonist shooting with a handheld camera.
