Los Angeles-based production company Tomorrow announces the addition of Director Ben Nakamura Whitehouse to its premium roster for US commercial representation.
Whitehouse’s dynamic mix of comedy-driven storytelling, high production values, and visually distinctive cinematic worlds makes him a fitting addition for Tomorrow’s world-class creative talent slate. Most recently, Whitehouse has directed noteworthy campaigns for Masterclass, Amazon, Pinterest, Google, Crea, and Weetabix.
“We are beyond excited to be working with Ben. His work is a rare combination of visual sophistication and comedic wit,” notes Tomorrow Managing Director Chris Zander. “Hit pause on any frame in his spots, and you’ll be blown away by the DETAILS. He meticulously builds worlds, then he populates them with pitch-perfect acting and subtle, humorous performances that nail the landing.”
Whitehouse notes, “I’m buzzing to be joining forces with Tomorrow in the US,” says Whitehouse. “In Chris Zander, I’ve found an EP who shares my love of deadpan comedy, meticulous craft, and brainstorms that require a safe word."
Based in London and born to Welsh and Japanese artist parents, Whitehouse’s work blends British irony with worldly comedic sensibilities. Whitehouse studied photography and cinematography at film school, which explains why, as a comedy and performance director, he places a lot of importance on elevating the visuals. His approach to commercials is that even comedy is an overwhelmingly visual medium.
Whitehouse started his career in advertising as a director’s assistant and ghost writer to some of the biggest commercial talents in the world, including Jonathan Glazer and Ivan Zacharias. Overseas, Whitehouse is repped for commercials by Stink Films in European and other territories and Revolver Films in Canada.
Regularly tapped for today’s top global campaigns, Whitehouse’s experience, passion for fresh thinking, and love of a good gag ensure that his work is always visually compelling, human, and very, very entertaining.
