This branded, narrative short film for interior designer Beata Heuman was shot on a shoestring budget (literally, a single shoestring).

As a lightbulb narrates her affairs, we learn of her infatuation with Olle, a moth who seems to love her for more than just her light. As they dance and laugh in a dark, dingy basement, suddenly Olle leaves. The lamp, heartbroken, asks why, and as Olle finds his way to a new light, a new bulb, a new lover, the film suddenly ends.

With clever narration and charming DIY costumes for the moths, that are alternately absurd and couture, The Moth is a strange and surreal branded video to launch Beata Heuman’s new product. Written and directed by Geordie Leyland, it borders in between the uncanny and the excellent. The video also boasts some sharp editing and a lovely color palette in muted yellows and soft browns that makes The Moth easy to watch and understand.
