BBH Barn opens doors for fifth year
BBH’s fully-paid creative ad school scales up, as part of its commitment to investing in the future creative leaders of adland.
Agency BBH London has welcomed the 12 successful students who have been selected to join Barn, the agency’s industry-leading, in-house ad school. The expanded cohort is set to begin the intense eight-month course this week.
Now in its fifth year, Barn, the first and only ad school based inside an agency, is part of BBH’s commitment to investing in building up the next generation of creative talent.
Crucially, Barn continues to remove typical industry barriers by paying all students the London Living Wage, ensuring that the students, regardless of background or experience, can pursue a career in advertising. The scheme's expansion ensures that more students can access a practical, paid route into the industry.
Earlier this year, BBH CEO Karen Martin laid out a vision to grow Barn as part of her manifesto as IPA President to celebrate, protect and train creatives, and put creativity back at the heart of the industry.
"Fresh talent and perspectives are the lifeblood of any creative industry, and Barn is where we incubate that life," said Martin. "Diversity of thought is not a nice to have, it’s a business imperative. We are increasing BBH’s investment in the school because we want the next generation of creative leaders to reflect the true diversity of thought and experience in the UK."
The course, led by Nick Gill, prioritises creative practice over creative theory, with students building a portfolio of creative ideas, learning from the best creatives in the industry and spending week-long placements with Barn agency partners, including Adam&Eve DDB, Leo’s, Pablo, and Uncommon.
Gill commented on the new intake: "It is such a privilege to welcome the next generation of students. Barn is a labour of love that shows BBH’s continued dedication to championing creativity, and with every new cohort, the support from both within the agency and our external partners just grows stronger."
Former graduates have already gone on to secure coveted jobs at some of the industry's best agencies, including VCCP, Adam&Eve DDB, Mother, and, of course, BBH itself.
