In the first of today's YDA Week 2020 posts, Amy Kean unpacks the world of memes and asks how they impact on culture and the industry.
After yesterday's 1-to-1 interviews with Justin Reardon and Pamela B Green, Kean, a regular shots columnist, talks us through the world of memes, their place in culture and the all-important 'benign violation theory'. Using the 'Karen' meme as a focal point of the talk, Kean looks at how memes fuel how people think and might, potentially, drive social change.
