2012 AICP Show Stays High and Dry

A driving rain couldn't dampen the spirits of the thousands of ad agency, production company and post production folks who packed the galleries and lobby of the Museum of Modern Art in New York on Tuesday night for the 2012 AICP Show.

As usual, SourceEcreative was on the scene. For a glimpse at who else was there, see our photo gallery below.

As AICP CEO Matt Miller noted at the start of the screening preceding the gala celebration, the annual competition for creative excellence in advertising registered the highest number of entries in its history this year.  Miller also joked at the screening about the death of the fifteen-second TV spot, as numerous entries screened that night exceeded traditional TVC lengths.

For example, two web shorts for K-Swiss featuring the fictional foulmouthed "Kenny Powers" character (from the HBO TV series "Eastbound and Down") both clocked in at more than four minutes in length (we lost count of the f-bombs launched during each short), while the Chipotle "Back To The Start" spot that was judged best single commercial in the competition was over two-and-a-half minutes long.  Even the three Google Chrome spots that took top honors in the Advertising Excellence/Campaign category were a minute or longer each. (Check out our list of winners here.)

The event was chaired this year by Park Pictures' Jackie Kelman Bisbee, and was marked by the presentation of the AICP's prestigious Jay B. Eisenstadt Award to The Artist Company's Sally Antonacchio. The award, named after one of the founders of the AICP, is given in recognition to service in the industry.  Antonacchio was accompanied, like all good Italian girls, by her husband and her brother.  Photos from the event appear below.
