When it comes to on-screen clothes-horses, brands tend to lean towards prettier, inoffensive models to showcase their wares, not the scrappy, drama-courting characters of shows like Shameless or This Is England.
Ignoring this, F.C. Copenhagen and adidas Originals’ new short, IN THIS CITY, dives deep into the world of petty crime and parenthood, following a troubled misfit forced to make big life choices. Set in the 1990s – the decade F.C. Copenhagen was born – Carl Feigenberg’s film keeps the adidas styling on point but otherwise focuses on the people, tension and grime that shaped the era, with a cracking turn from Danish musician Emil Mercedes Baadsgaard (aka USSEL).
“IN THIS CITY explores Copenhagen’s originality. It’s a tribute to the city - to those who came before us and those daring to define who they want to become," says Alfred Lauritzen, Partner & Executive Producer, Blonde Inc.
"It also demonstrates how sports can shape authentic stories with cultural significance. The film also captures a feeling many of us recognise - a moment in life when we’ve needed a teammate to get us back on track or point us in the right direction, reminding us of the strength we find in others."
Produced by Blonde Inc. and presented with Danish cultural magazine Soundvenue, the film premiered at Park Bio, near F.C. Copenhagen’s home stadium.
