Maybe you’ve not heard of creative athleticism before, but that’s the concept behind 72andSunny’s latest piece for adidas.

The Here to Create campaign charts the rise of emerging footballers who go to extreme lengths to get spotted by the scouts.

Although arrogance and skill may take you some of the way, this spot highlights the creative things some athletes do to get noticed.

“We believe an athlete’s imagination and creativity can take them further than their body or mind alone ever can,” says adidas VP for global brand communications, Ryan Morlan.

The work – helmed by Iconoclast’s Paul Geusebroek – sees a group of 16-19 year old adidas Tango Squad players break into Real Madrid’s training ground at night, to practice on the pitch. Obviously they get busted… but they do it to get caught.

The campaign celebrates their determination to play despite the consequences, knowing that their attempt might lead them to the right person.

Here to Create will launch with the kick-off of the UEFA Champions League group stages and more short films will be released to continue the series, so keep your eyes on the brand’s YouTube channel.
