By the time you're in your late 70s, it can be hard to keep energy levels high.

But 79-year-old Rosemary Smith defies expectation and instead proves that she's still a bit of an adrenaline junkie at heart if this Renault spot from Publicis is anything to go by.

Helmed by Michel Arribehaute and Nicolas Arribehaute, The Ultimate Test Drive campaign sees Smith jump into an 800bhp Sport Formula One team car and whizz around the racetrack to celebrate the brand's 40 year partnership with F1.

In the film, Smith talks about her racing past and how she overcame gender stereotypes to become accepted as a female racing driver among her male peers.

During her lengthy racing career, Smith took home many trophies and awards for her driving determination, but she'd always dreamed of driving an 800bhp car - a dream she finally fulfills in this spot.

“After racing and facing the challenges of competing in a male-dominated sport together for many years, I was so happy that my friend Pauline [Gullick, long term friend and navigator] was able to share this latest milestone and give me that extra boost," says Smith of the experience. "It just goes to show that anyone can fulfill their dreams at any age if they put their mind to it and always follow their passions.”

And her passion for driving fast cars is what drew the creative team to her.

The ad's slogan Passion for Life and its accompanying hashtag #FollowYourPassion reflect Smith's zest for life and her adventurous spirit, which is sure to encourage other drivers to test drive some of Renault's F1 cars.
