UPDATE: As we predicted, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's Spanish smash Despacito has overtaken Wiz Khalifa's See You Again to become YouTube's most-watched clip. This has happened just under a month after See You Again took the top spot. Eight months after being released, Despacito has racked up 3 billion views.

This knocks See You Again into second place, though that video has gained 200 million extra views on top of the 2,895,808,245 plays it had when we reported that it, a ballad from film Fast and Furious 7 (or Furious 7 for our friends across the pond), had become the most-watched clip.

This put the video ahead of South Korean singer Psy's Gangnam Style, which is currently on 2,894,564,985, and has had a five-year reign on the top of the chart, ahead of other massive hits like Uptown FunkJustin Bieber's Sorry, and Adele's Hello.

When See You Again took the top spot two years after its release in April 2015, we noted that 'a video that could soon challenge it is Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee Spanish smash Despacito, which has smashed into the top 10 in only six months with 2.5 billion views.'

Psy's video, now third, however, still wins shot's heart. It also wins on the number of horses appearing in the video, with seven to Despacito's zero.
