There’s nothing more empowering than a nice bit of sausage at the end of a long day, and down at Johnsonville Sausages, employees have been enjoying a bit of empowerment themselves when they were asked to help create some ads for their company.

Masterminded by Droga5 New York, the Made The Johnsonville Way campaign is explained in Responsibilities (below), the first link in the story of how staff at the family-owned Wisconsin company incorporated brainstorming banger ads into all their other responsibilities.

 

Responsibilities:

 

The first of the trio of spots to emerge from the sizzling minds of the Johnsonville staffers is, Regular Speed Chase (below)  from self-proclaimed ‘car guy’ Brett. It features a massive action-style car chase through the desert, as ice-cream trucks, soccer moms and even grannies on scooters chase the Johnsonville Big Taste Grill.

The second spot, Jeff and his Forest Friends (below) comes from 18-year Johnsonville staffer Jeff, who narrates and stars in this piece of woodland whimsy in which he can’t get chomping on his breakfast sausage due to countless interruptions by chatty forest critters. “I thought it would be funny to have a commercial with talking’ animals,” says Jeff. He’s right of course, adland would be lost without a talking animal.

Droga5 group creative director, Scott Bell, says the hardest part of the process was narrowing down the hundred plus ideas to just three. “There were so many good ones to choose from,” he says, “These guys could definitely take our jobs."  

The third spot, New Neighbours, is set to be released soon, but for the moment enjoy the Behind the Scenes clip compilation and the quaint trailer, comprising the actual footage from countless interviews of Johnsonville employees about their ideas.
