In a world first, members of the public were given the opportunity to command a holographic image of an almost human android in real-time via Twitter.

The pioneering event took place in the heart of London’s Soho to promote the futuristic show Almost Human which launched on UKTV’s Watch channel this week.

Created by London based agency Joint, the experience, combining holography with social media-powered interactivity was a world first.

Capturing the imagination of passers-by, tweet commands included: ‘Breakdance’,’Do the Macarena’, ‘Scratch your bum’ and ‘Rub your nipples’.

On demand

Whilst all commands were responded to in real-time, the more risqué requests such as ‘Masturbate for me’ earned a disapproving shake of the finger from the android. Tweeters received a Vine of the android’s responses to their requests.

Whilst the experience was unbranded, users were directed to the UKTV website and YouTube channel via links in social channels.

“We love finding unusual shaped solutions to our clients’ business problems. Producing innovative stuff like this is what Joint was set up to do,” says Joint co-founder, Damon Collins.
