The Source Presents Returns To London

After taking the show on the road to Amsterdam for our January 'Source Presents', March 12th saw the showcase of exceptional short-form work return to its London home to entertain and inspire the UK commercial scene. More than 150 adland professionals made the trip through the snow (!) to Cafe 1001, Brick Lane for a chance to check out the very best in signed and un-signed talent in a showcase hand-picked from the SourceEcreative archive and Scout, our portal of untapped talent.

Alongside the curated work, we also welcomed Blinkink/Colonel Blimp superstar director David Wilson to the event to screen some of his popular films and indulge in a spot of on-stage Q&A with SourceE Worldwide Editor Jamie Madge. Amongst the gems shown and shared were factoids about Metronomy 'The Bay' (shot in Torquay, Devon), Tame Impala 'Mind Mischief' (the riff made him think of a lady's bottom as she walked down a corridor) and Adam Buxton's 'Sushi Song' (Buxton LOVES to look silly). He also entreated the crowd to an exclusive screening of his not-yet-released Race For Life film featuring a bevvy of Pink Ladies and an unfortunate vehicle.

Popular films in the main sections included the Keith Schofield's wonderful repurposing of stock videos for Darwin Deez's 'You Can't Be My Girl', Kijek/Adamski's stupendously time-consuming animation 'Katachi' and enthralling short 'The Wedding' from unsigned Australian director Simon Cottee. The night also saw an first-look screening of Great Guns director Ilya Naishuller's sequel to his phenomenal FPS epic 'Insane Office Escape' short/pop promo. Ultra violent and uber stylish, the vid enraptured the audience from the opening gambit including an execution, an unlucky dog and a window.

A pair of exclusives, a queue out of the door, a room full of beaming faces - it's safe to say that the Source Presents return to London was a success. Next stop... PARIS!
