A fearless storyteller with an instinct for character and a flair for cinematic mischief, Ferguson brings a bold and compelling voice to the Rattling Stick roster.
Ferguson has rapidly emerged as one of Australia’s most exciting directorial talents. Her debut short film, Tough, premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival and earned her the Mamoulian Award for Best Director at the Sydney Film Festival, alongside Best Director at Flickerfest International. She made her television debut directing episodes of Year Of and Fake, the latter currently streaming on ITVX.
In the commercial sphere, Ferguson made an impact through Good Oil Films, earning Emerging Director of the Year at the 2023 AWARD Awards, and a Silver Cannes Young Lions Award in 2022. Her work is known for blending a visually rich, playful style with emotional depth and razor-sharp wit.
Notable campaigns include TasmanAI, a tongue-in-cheek tourism ad for Tasmania satirising our growing reliance on artificial intelligence, and 2Degrees, a poignant spot addressing the systemic drop-off of girls in sport. These works reflect Ferguson’s diverse range, from irreverent comedy to purpose-driven narratives, all underpinned by a strong sense of performance and character.
Originally an actor, with credits in Clickbait, Glitch, and Ten Pound Poms, Ferguson brings a holistic understanding of the craft to her directorial work, drawing out rich, compelling performances from her cast.
“I'm very excited to become a Rattling Stick in the UK,” says Ferguson. “Huge thanks to Eve and Stu for backing a slightly unhinged filmmaker with a soft spot for chaos and character-driven scripts. It’s rare to find a home that champions both bold creative risks and deeply human storytelling, so I feel incredibly lucky to join a roster that does exactly that. Here’s to pushing boundaries and making weird, wonderful work.”
Stuart Bentham, Managing Director at Rattling Stick, adds: “Very excited to welcome Tay to the team. She’s seriously talented and, just as importantly, a lovely human too. Can’t wait to see her bring her natural style and comedy chops to the RS creative mix. Let’s ‘ave it!”
With Ferguson on board, Rattling Stick continues to grow its slate of distinctive, boundary-pushing talent. Her arrival signals an exciting new chapter of bold, genre-spanning storytelling rooted in performance, visual craft, and a whole lot of character.
