This years straight 8 shootout presented by APA and Cinelab Film + Digital, with support from shots, and Machineshop.

12 companies went head to head making two and a half minute short films on super 8. The results were unveiled at Cinema Les Arcades, Cannes last week.

The 2018 gold winner returned to the arena for the first time, and grabbed gold again.

These risk taking companies took the challenge: to make a piece of cinema with just a single roll of super 8 without editing or postproduction: Scuare, New-Land, Ricsworld Studios, Mr+ Positive, Siren, Drool, DEPT, Imagine This, VCCP, Quiet Storm, Snapper Films, and Directors Guild.

They only discovered their work at the same time as everyone in the cinema, and then the votes were cast.

The Winners

GOLD: Directors Guild, Helsinki - Hush

SILVER: Snapper Films, London - Chicken

BRONZE: VCCP, London - Happy Ending
