SourceEcreative Makes the Scene at the Directors Lounge
Digital production was the hot topic at the latest installment of this regular German series of presentations by top global directors and EPs.

SourceEcreative made the scene in Dusseldorf last week for the 40th Directors Lounge event, hosted by BBDO Proximity's Head of TV Steffen Gentis. It was held at Nacht Residenz in Dusseldorf. On hand to talk about trends in producing work for digital media were directors and EPs from such companies as Partizan, B-Reel Films, Parasol Island and others. (Pictures of the event appear below.)
Also on hand were James Straker, Managing Director of SourceEcreative, who's based in London, and Nicki Masterson, our recently-named Global Business Development Director, who's based in Amsterdam.
The Directors Lounge events showcase directors and their work on a big screen, before an audience of agency and production company professionals. The events, which have been going on now for the past seven years, were initially conducted on a small scale just for people in the BBDO offices in Germany, says Gentis, but industry interest forced him to take the events to outside venues and invite a larger swath of industry people. Now he does roughly three Directors Lounge events a year. The next one, number 41, is scheduled for this coming May.
The roster for the event last week focused on producers and directors working in the digital, web video and interactive space, Gentis says. Among those who took part where Tomas Roope, Creative Director and Founding Partner of The Rumpus Room, the social media and digital creative boutique which is represented for commercial work by in Asia and Australia by The Sweet Shop.
Also at the event were three members of the B-Reel team, including Lars Bjurman, Creative Director of B-Reel in Stockholm, and from its production arm, B-Reel Films, represented by Director Tom Malmros and Executive Producer Martin Ronström, and Director James Pilkington, who's with Vollmilch Commercials in Germany, Mustard Film Co. in London and a WHITELABEL product in the US. Michael Geoghegan, a director with Partizan, showed his "Off the Grid" project for Honda, produced for Wieden + Kennedy in London, while Director Oliver Bennoun showed his web video "Don't Shoot the Bear," produced for Tipp-Ex.
Other presenters included Anrick Bregman of Parasol Island, the German production collective, who directed "The Black Diamond" web site experience for Stella Artois; Andy Kinsella of Stink Digital in London; and David Incorvia of the Unusuals, a social media network for advertising and film production professionals.
