You don’t get much more ‘hot right now’ than Nexus’ Kibwe Tavares. After slaying award shows and festivals with his early shorts ‘Robots Of Brixton’ and ‘Jonah’, Tavares has been putting his hand to memorable work for brands.
However, it’s with a one-two punch this summer that the promise of his keen eye for animation, tech and filmmaking is finally realised in two disconnected but complimentary works – the long-awaited short ‘Robot & Scarecrow’ and heart-warming spot ‘We Play Strong’ for UEFA.
We caught up with Kibwe in Nexus’ Shoreditch office to chat about Katy Perry influences, spotlighting female footballers and how to perfectly combine animation and live-action.
