Spanish-born Berlin-based director Anuk Rohde has signed to Friend

Friend say they were captivated by Rohde's distinctive visual style in her music videos for bands including Alice Merton, Se So Neon and Rammstein, amongst others.

Rohde's says her aim is to explore issues of identity and expand accepted standards of beauty, issues evident in films such as Tonight We're On Motor Response, Chloe Waldorf - Unfamous, and the video for Sideways’ Lxandra.  Stories of the underdog are a recurring theme in Rohde's work, with these narratives often set against a raw and honest backdrop

Her aesthetic is one of intimacy and nostalgia, using stark contrasts to portray raw and authentic characters and her approach can move between documentary, fantastical and metaphorical.

"We’re extremely excited to welcome Anuk to the Friend family," said Danny Herman, Friend's Head of Music Videos. "The fearless worlds she creates have had us spellbound for a long time and we know we are going to create some magic together."
