Tierra Whack’s visual album was really fresh! Moses Sumney’s latest album’s videos were also very cohesive, like Arca.
Recently I’ve watched classics like Daft Punk - Revolution 909 or Janet Jackson - Got Til It's Gone by Mark Romanek.

What’s the first music video you remember being impressed by?
Busta Rhymes - Gimme Some More. I also remember as a kid being very disturbed and intrigued by The Verve and The Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up.

What other directors/artists do you look to for inspiration?
I’m a fan of many geniuses but I would say: Steve McQueen, The Safdie Brothers, Pedro Almodovar, Alfonso Cuarón, and Alejandro González Iñárritu. Darius Marder, the director of The Sound of Metal, is also very interesting!
In commercials, rubberband and Traktor made me love the game.
What are you listening to at the moment?
Nubia Garcia, Yussef Dayes, Natalie Bergman, Serpentwithfeet, Tems, Floating Points/Pharaoh Sanders, Little Simz, Kojey Radical Omah Lay, Zlatan, Sons of kemet, Tirzah, Maggot’s brain, SOPHIE, Grimes, Pau Salieu, Phoebe Bridgers and I’m a big Drake fan. Also, everything released by SoulJazz records.
What’s your favourite bit of tech, whether for professional or personal use?
My iPhone 12!

What artist(s) would you most like to work with and why?
Nicolas Karakastanis is the DOP that teaches me everything and I’m learning about film and art in everything he does, Leonora Miano because she’s probably the best writer of our times, Zadie Smith cause her writing is furiously visceral and witty that its almost impossible to adapt in film (White Teeth, On Beauty), Damselfrau, Serpentwithfeet is an extraordinary poet and singer, Nathalie Bergman: would love to work with her and make a vid for her song Last Farewell.
How do you feel the promo industry has changed since you started in it?
Nowadays we are more community managers than creatives… I’m really forcing myself to spend less time on social media cause interacting with others can become a full-time job! Mute the notifications!
Where do you see the music video industry being in five years’ time?
I see videos with virtual clothes and cars...enhancing of the VR experience with your phone, videos where you can integrate your own avatar in the narrative form.
Tell us one thing about yourself that most people won’t know…
I’m following some makeup tutorials on Youtube and I love it!
