Last year in Canadaville, the Grinch sought to ruin the holiday season, using his typical mischief to mess up McDonald’s meals.

His plan was foiled, as people loved his Dill Pickle McShaker fries and mismatched socks, and the meal sold out in just two weeks. This year, he is back and has expanded his mischief to the US, Australia, and Europe!

Here in Canada, he is feeling more mischievous than ever with his new meal, The Grinchiest Meal.

The Grinchiest Meal will be offered in McDonald’s restaurants around Canadaville starting December 2nd. Each meal comes with a choice of a Big Mac, 10 pc. McNuggets with Sour Cream ’N Onion Flavoured Sauce, or a McVeggie, with a side of Who Hash Bites and a medium drink, and new mismatched socks, all enclosed within a bundle box that evokes a present in leftover wrapping paper. Outside of his official meal, he’ll also appear on a McDonald’s Happy Meal, McCafé cups and McFlurry cups.

The Grinch will be taking all of his previous chaos at McDonald’s Canada from last year and doubling it. This campaign will be shared on TVC with a :15s and a :30s (Directed by Jesse James McElroy from Alfredo Films), which introduces The Grinch’s factory, OOH featuring the Grinch’s graffiti over the beloved McDonald’s tagline, streaming radio/audio, and owned and paid social, with some bonus surprises along the way. All of these elements go back to our campaign fan truth: “McDonald’s is a place fans come to for joy.”

The Grinch will also be taking over the McDonald’s Canada Instagram with his ‘ 6-ish Days of Grinchmas’. From factory tours, a profile picture takeover, unveiling his meal, to a full on fashion-mag-worthy sock photoshoot, the Grinch has deployed a variety of tactics and stunts to promote ‘The Grinchiest Meal’ and entertain Canadaville throughout Grinchmas the holiday season.

“Creating a sequel to The Grinch was equally challenging as it was fun. Luckily, we got to work with a talented team who trusted us and brought our vision to lif,e” said Mikayla Dumas and Nikki Vandervelde, Copywriter and Art Director, Wieden+Kennedy.
