Marvin Jay Alvarez becomes a Knucklehead
Knucklehead signs the multi-hyphenate talent Marvin Jay Alvarez for directing representation.
Production company Knucklehead have signed Director, Editor, Creative Director and Actor, Marvin Jay Alvarez for commercial representation.
Madrid-born, Manila-raised, and London-made, Alvarez is a leading young talent in the comedy world.
After starting in the tape rooms of MTV, Sky, and Channel 4, he pivoted into the cutting room and became a talented editor, working at agencies such as Grey and McCann on some of the world’s biggest brands (Adidas, Gucci, Vogue, BBC, Somerset House, Tate, Sony Music, Wireless Festival, GRM), and cutting BIFA-nominated shorts such as Serious Tingz, Precious Hair and Beauty, and Mandem.
Along the way, Alvarez played a role in two of the most seminal creative offerings of the decade, playing the best bit part of all time, DJ Fantasy in TV show People Just Do Nothing, and co-creating viral sensation Chicken Shop Dates with Amelia Dimoldenberg.
Alvarez dived into directing this year with his hilarious debut short Losing It, produced by Uncommon Creative Studio, and starring Allan ‘Seapa’ Mustafa and Hugo Chegwin. The film, about a barber and his young client coming to terms with his hair loss, has been praised not only for its playful observations but also Seapa’s central performance as the lovable hype-man with dreams of his own, a role he was born to play.
Knucklehead’s Tim Katz: “Marvin is so good at so many things it’s actually really annoying. Watching Losing It made us all laugh out loud which is usually a pretty good sign for signing a comedy director.”
Alvarez adds: "It's an honour to be joining the incredible Knucklehead roster. I'm very much looking forward to working on 🔥 projects with a 💪 team who laugh out loud at my jokes."
