Film production studio, Far & Away has named Eliza Burrows-McGill its Head of Production. Based in Toronto, the appointment marks the studio's expansion into the Toronto market while it continues to operate from its Halifax home base.

Burrows-McGill takes end-to-end ownership of Far & Away's productions, from bid through delivery, and will continue to build the studio's crew, vendor, and post-partner network in Toronto, along with the agency and brand relationships that establish its presence there. The hire gives founders Ben Consmueller and Ilia Lipsman a stronger production structure to work within, so they can stay focused on directing and the films themselves.

Burrows-McGill recently relocated to Toronto from London, where she spent the past three years at OLIVER, rising from senior producer to executive producer and leading projects for more than 30 brands across seven countries.

Lipsman said: "Bringing Eliza into Far & Away is an exciting step as we expand into the Toronto market. As Far & Away has grown, we knew that expanding into Toronto would be a natural next step. Eliza's experience and approach make her a natural fit to help lead that growth. She brings the production expertise, instincts, and relationship-building skills we need as we build our footprint there. For us, this is about creating meaningful connections, earning trust, and establishing a strong foundation for Far & Away in Toronto for years to come."

Consmueller added: "We're thrilled to have Eliza with us as we expand into Toronto. From a creative perspective, her joining Far & Away gives us more space to do what we're here to do: direct. The stronger the production structure is around us, the more we can stay focused on the ideas, the performances, the tone, and the films themselves. That's exciting for us, because it means we can grow into Toronto while keeping the work at the centre of Far & Away."

Burrows-McGill said: "Coming from a global agency in the UK, I am incredibly excited to join Far & Away as their new Head of Production. When I first discovered their portfolio through a fellow UK producer, the raw honesty of the work immediately made me stop and take notice. Getting to know the directing duo, it's clear this authenticity comes through in everything they do. They also bring such diverse expertise to the table, applying their backgrounds in cinematography and editing right from the initial creative stages. As a new Toronto local, I am really looking forward to helping grow our team here, merging our backgrounds, and continuing to craft beautiful, resonant, and real work."
