In a bold new collaboration between Nike and THE FACE, director Anna Van Der Velde unveils a hypnotic music film starring Chinese DJ/Producer Cora.

Part of a four-city campaign celebrating Europe’s underground music scenes, the Berlin segment represents a visceral journey of self-discovery through sound, movement and digital craft.

Produced by Stink Berlin, the film counters Berlin club clichés with a dreamlike, CG-enhanced narrative. Set to Cora’s own track, The Heart Sutra we follow Cora’s journey through a maze-like landscape, encountering a multitude of versions of her.

The blend of live action, VFX and 3D scanning is a through-line in Van Der Velde's portfolio. Here, she aims to mirror the psychological detachment and transcendence often found on the dancefloor.

Van Der Velde’s short is one of four in the Nike x THE FACE collaboration to launch Nike’s new Dn8 trainers. Spread across London, Paris, Berlin and Manchester each spot spotlights a local music artist paired with an exciting filmmaker.

“I like to use a lot of CG and VFX in my work because it gives the opportunity to extend reality and create new worlds. The 3D-scanned Coras are frozen and distant, representing the psychological detachment you feel when lost in your inner space, where time stands still” said Van Der Velde.
