DIVISION welcome Dorothea Sing Zhang to its roster. 

Known for her inventive approach to practical surrealism, Sing Zhang has quickly made a name for herself on the international film scene.

She studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, and at Denmark’s Ecole de Leth under renowned filmmakers Lars von Trier, Jørgen Leth, and Thomas Vinterberg.

Her 2024 short musical, Masterpiece Mommy, starring Leah Dou, premiered in competition at the Toronto International Film Festival and is now shortlisted for the European Film Awards 2026. Her latest short, A Small Fiction of My Mother in Beijing, also premiered at TIFF, and she is currently in pre-production on Girl in Dune (working title), the final chapter of the Mommy trilogy.

Beyond filmmaking, Sing Zhang is a celebrated photographer, contributing to VOGUEDAZEDLOVE, and NOWNESS, and collaborating with global brands like Prada and Hermès. Her debut monograph, Like Someone Alive (2023, Art Paper Editions), earned acclaim from WallpaperNational GeographicPhotograph Magazine, and Numéro.

With a bold, multidisciplinary vision, Sing Zhang brings a fresh and daring perspective to DIVISION.
