Chipotle's "Back to the Start," Canal +'s "Bear" Take
Top Film Honors in Cannes; MJZ Wins Palme d'Or

in recognition of his contribution to advertising creativity.

"Bear" for Canal + won the Film Craft Grand Prix, along with three Gold Lions.

The juries have spoken, and now it's time to start tallying the Lions.  Among the big winners were CAA, which took home the Film Grand Prix, BETC Paris, which won the Film Craft Grand Prix, MJZ, which won the Palme d'Or and the co-founder of the "Just Do It" agency, Portland's Dan Wieden, who received a special award in recognition of his contributions to the industry.
 
The Film Grand Prix was awarded to Creative Artists Agency Los Angeles for its entry "Back to the Start" for Chipotle, which was produced by Nexus Productions in London.  CAA also took the first-ever Branded Content & Entertainment Grand Prix for the "Cultivate Campaign" for Chipotle. The spot also won a Gold Lion in the Film Craft category for Animation.

The Film Craft Lions Grand Prix went to BETC Paris for "Bear" for Canal +.  The spot also won three Gold Lions in the Film Craft category – for Direction, Script and Visual Effects.  For a full listing of Film Craft Lions, click here.

Chipotle's "Back to the Start," a big winner at AICP, continues to roll in Cannes.

The Titanium Grand Prix was presented to R/GA New York for its entry for Nike, "Nike+ Fuelband". No Integrated Grand Prix was awarded.
 
The Palme d'Or for 2012 was won by MJZ in the US. The honor is given to the best production company. To compete for this prize, a production company must have at least 10 films in the competition, irrespective of whether these have been entered by the production company, advertising agency or another third party.
 
Rounding out the top 5 in the Palme d'Or honors were Rattling Stick, UK in second place, Biscuit Filmworks, USA in third place, Caviar, USA in fourth place and last year's Palme d'Or winner, Smuggler, USA, in fifth place.
 
Wieden was greeted with a standing ovation when he went to the stage in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais to be presented with the Lion of St. Mark trophy, awarded in honor of an individual's long and outstanding contribution to creativity in communications.

Other awards presented at this evening's ceremony were:
 
--Advertising Agency of the Year was given to Wieden+Kennedy Portland. BBH London took second and Ogilvy Brasil was in third place.
 
--Independent Agency of the Year also went to Wieden+Kennedy Portland. Runners up were Serviceplan Munich in second place and Jung von Matt Hamburg in third.
 
--The Network of the Year award was presented to Ogilvy & Mather. Second place went to BBDO and third to DDB.  Also awarded was the Holding Company of the Year which went to WPP. Omnicom was in second and Publicis Groupe in third.
