Caviar has signed Emmy nominated director Max Bartick, known for his cinematic approach to performance driven storytelling and his ability to capture global talent with elegance, precision and a subtle sense of play.

Based between Los Angeles and New York, Bartick emerged from New York’s fashion and beauty world, spending over a decade shaping visual stories in a space where image and cultural relevance are inseparable. Formerly a director at American Vogue, he developed a sensibility rooted in precision, taste and emotional clarity, balanced with a subtle sense of play.

“I like to say my style is elegance, with a wink,” says Bartick. “Everything is about precision and taste, but I’m always looking for charm, humour and humanity within the frame. That’s what makes something stay with people.”

Bartick has collaborated with talent including Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, Michelle Yeoh, Sarah Jessica Parker, Victoria Beckham, Billie Eilish and Viola Davis, alongside brands such as Chanel, Gucci, Dior, Estée Lauder, L’Oréal Paris, Range Rover and Google. His work has collectively been viewed over 10 billion times.

Part of his distinct strength lies in the way he captures celebrity performance, creating films that feel polished but never overworked, always leaving room for spontaneity, personality and emotional presence to emerge naturally on screen.

“Working with A-List talent often gives you very little time on set,” Bartick explains. “So I prepare everything in extreme detail beforehand. Every major decision is already made before we arrive, which creates freedom once we’re shooting. Then we can focus on collaboration, energy and performance, and leave room to play a little. That’s often where the magic happens.”

Most recently, Bartick directed the new NEXXUS campaign starring Christina Aguilera and shot the accompanying stills campaign, bringing a unified visual approach across both motion and photography. The imagery appeared on billboards and was projected onto New York's iconic Domino Sugar Factory.

In 2024, he also received an Emmy nomination for his film with New York City Ballet, further cementing his reputation for creating work that feels technically refined, emotionally resonant and culturally attuned.

Sorcha Shepherd, Company Director & Executive Producer at Caviar, says: “Max is part of a new generation of directors who’ve come up through culture as much as craft. He has that rare ability to create work that feels elevated but still immediate. There’s a real instinct to how he sees and captures people.

“What stood out to us was how fluidly he moves between stills and motion, and how cohesive that vision is across everything he does. He brings a strong point of view, but also a lightness of touch. The work feels confident without ever trying too hard, which is something we really value.”

Sophie Cullinane, Global Executive Creative Director at Gravity Road adds; “Having worked with Max across both Nexxus and TRESemmé, what stands out is his ability to be completely in sync with the creative vision while making everyone around him feel confident and supported. He has an exceptional instinct for talent, culture and craft, but also a rare knack for guiding clients through ambitious creative choices. The result is work that feels both beautifully executed and genuinely brave. Quite frankly, he's a creative director's dream.”
