Biscuit Filmworks signs Florence Poppy Deary
The award-winning comedic talent with a sharp eye for life’s absurdities joins the UK roster for commercial representation.
Biscuit Filmworks announced the signing of writer, animator, and director Florence Poppy Deary for UK commercial representation. Deary brings her signature wit and observational edge to the company’s acclaimed directing roster.
An emerging British comedy director, Deary’s work is inspired by the nuances of human behaviour and the bizarre truths that define everyday life. Her distinctive approach blends animation and live-action to craft clever, acerbic pieces that feel at once familiar and strange.
Deary began her career as a creative at Mother London and Wieden+Kennedy London, earning recognition for award-winning campaigns for Nike, Sainsbury’s, TKMaxx, Diet Coke, Three, and QuickBooks. Her recent short film, S.O.S… But Don’t Worry If Not, produced by Biscuit in collaboration with W+K London, showcases her singular style and sharp storytelling. The film is an official selection at Slick Films Fund, Cannes Short Film Festival, Hollywood Shortsfest, and the LOCO London Comedy Film Festival 2025, a BAFTA-qualifying event.
With a passion for making audiences laugh, Deary has already directed work for Hilton Hotels, and her animated short Is This A Good Time swept the Kinsale Shark Short Film Awards last year, winning Best Animated Short, Best Short Short, and Best Writing. The festival jury praised it as “a brilliant one-woman band production” and “a film that harks to a universal insight within us all.”
“It’s so important to surround yourself with people who inspire and intimidate,” said Deary. “That’s how I push myself, that’s how I grow. Biscuit is full of those kinds of people: Steve Rogers, Andreas Nilsson, and of course, my incredible mentor Jeff Low, to name just a few. Biscuit has always stood out to me as a deadly organisation. Deadly in the best possible way. The smartest people, making the best work, and being nice while they do it! I’m beyond thrilled to be joining the line-up. Can’t wait to dig in.”
Rupert Reynolds-MacLean, Managing Director of Biscuit Filmworks UK, added: “We’ve worked with Florence for a few years as a creative and, more recently, as a director. The timing of this is absolutely right. She is such a talented director and writer, everything about Flo officially joining now was a no-brainer. She’s an exceptional comedic talent with infinite possibilities on how far she can go.”
