Berlin Plays Host To The Directors Lounge

If you were looking for the top advertising creatives and production houses in Germany on Valentine's Day (and, let's face it, you probably were), there's an excellent chance you would have found them at the ewerk Berlin – an amazingly vast former factory and venue for the latest Directors Lounge.

For its 43rd iteration, the Regielounge (Directors Lounge) upped sticks from its traditional Düsseldorf location and brought its heady mix of creative work and the artists behind them to the city of Berlin. After fully decking the impressive venue out with high-end AV equipment and a couple of well stocked bars, the scene was set for an evening of artistic inspiration. Curated and helmed by BBDO Proximity's Head Of TV Steffen Gentis, the evening saw 1000 adland professionals descend upon the site and enjoy showreels, mini-interviews and even impromptu installations from the assorted directors. Included in the showcase were Betti Berlin's directing duo Moist Creation, Glass Film's Christian Aeby, a mega-team from B-Reel Berlin (scooting across from their own launch party!), Trigger Happy Productions' Johan Kramer, Stink's Martin Krejci, Joachim Back from Soup Filmproduktion and Niels Shoe Meulman, showing off his illustrative graffiti style. The evening also saw Blink's Tom Tagholm (creator of the exceptional 'Meet The Superhumans' for the London Paralympics and Channel 4) Skype in for a brief chat.

Hosting the show was Steffen Gentis, bustling through the assorted crowd to garner quick chats with the directors in attendance (in both German and English) and ensuring that the evening flowed successfully. "I thought it would be interesting to see what happens if we do a Regielounge in Berlin." commented Steffen. "Berlin is an absolute magnet for young creatives, becoming one with this city's unique dynamic pulse for innovation. It's also the reason why we have a BBDO Proximity in Berlin – creating creative advertising with the same energy and passion. So it was absolutely logical to host a Regielounge in Berlin."

Here are a few snaps of the evening's festivities:
