Festival Highlights: Connecting Creativity

Held from August 26 to 30, this year's festival featured a series of networking satellite events, stage talks, the Berlin Commercial awards, and an after-party, all designed to foster collaboration and inspiration within the creative community. Noteworthy discussions included “How Creative Collaboration Can Future-Proof the Industry,” featuring insights from Franziska Gregor (Managing Director at Serviceplan Culture), Jonathan Deeb (Chief Creative Officer at BBDO Germany), Fabian Barz (Head of Production and Business Affairs at Innocean Europe), Luke Atcheson (Creative Director at Zalando Studios Berlin), and Nicklas Juntke-Krüger (Head of TV & Creative Production at DAVID+MARTIN).

The festival week, featuring a grand opening in collaboration with Tracks and Fields and a closing event at the iconic St. Elisabeth Church in Mitte, supported by KALA Films, attracted over 3,000 international industry professionals. This turnout underscores Berlin Commercial’s significance on the creative industry calendar. The festival experience was further enhanced by parties hosted by Stink Films and RadicalMedia.

Berlin Commercial Festival Founder and CEO Philipp Ulita comments: “Our goal is to activate our network to celebrate and go beyond the practical aspects of winning awards. We aim to foster meaningful connections and embrace the collective value and shared moments of storytelling and art within the films. Berlin continues to be the place to be, the place to meet, and the place to exchange ideas. The world is watching, participating, and shaping state-of-the-art filmmaking through this collaborative effort. This year’s edition has been no exception.”

Berlin Commercial will return next year, with submissions opening this autumn. Its sister event, the Berlin Fashion Film Festival, will be held from November 13-15, 2024, and is still accepting submissions until September 14.
