Rogue Films announce that the talented, multi award winning director Andrew De Zen, has joined their roster.

De Zen’s work is highly emotional, connected to both his visceral way of thinking and personal experiences of reality.  With editorially driven stories, strong POVs, and a hint of finding poetry in the everyday, De Zen’s work often searches for the deeply vulnerable and he is an expert in adapting himself and work to all sorts of new subjects.

His short film The Robbery, for Amnesty International, picked up two awards at Ciclope, Gold for Special Section, Low Budget and Bronze for Direction, Over 120 Seconds, and last week, made the shots shortlist for Ad of the Year: Charity/PSA.

De Zen explains the importance of the film and his filmmaking process,  “Amnesty International is easily the most rewarding project I've ever had the pleasure of working on.  It's a subject that is deeply personal to me, and being able to express a small hint of the collective emotions and anger around the war was something that needed to be said.  To be recognised for this twice at Ciclope is very special.

“My process comes down to having to break something apart logically to then reconstruct it again. That smashing of practical meets chaotically creative, allows me to really flow. I try to surround myself with the most talented and kind-hearted people who can elevate everything we do. Directors are nothing without their teams, casting the right crew is just as important as finding the right fit for the cast.

De Zen has a showreel full of outstanding work for high end brands around sensitive issues. These include the Super Bowl campaign for Under Armour with Michael Phelps that spoke to the importance of mental health and athletes and his film for Alaskan Tapes, Of Woods and Seas which was another deeply personal story about change and growth.

So why Rogue for De Zen? “Putting aside for a moment that the team is incredibly talented and all around amazing souls, the philosophy and name "Rogue" really resonates. It can be a tough thing to find places and people you truly feel like you can belong with, and I've always seen myself as a bit of a lone wolf. A team of Rogues with people trying to make the best work possible really connects with what I want to do. I can't wait to explore that together with them. It's a great place to call home!"

Kate Taylor, Rogue MD and owner comments: “Andrew De Zen is a supremely talented young film-maker who shows real flair in his work. He’s in the early stage of what promises to be a stellar directing career - which makes it beyond exciting that he’s chosen Rogue as his production company of choice - let’s GO!"
