Pi Studios Create Wedding Documentary to Promote Nikon D850
Partnering up with The Guardian and Nikon, WE ARE PI has created a 20 minute documentary exploring what love looks like today, questioning how much culture shapes a bride's big day.
Following a weekend celebrating the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan, Pi Studios has teamed up with The Guardian and Nikon to create a documentary exploring the meaning of marriage in 2018.
Four Weddings follows four brides from the UK, US, Romania and India on their wedding days, questioning how much culture shapes their big day decisions and contrasting different people's unconventional ideals on marriage.

Rather than create an ad to promote the Nikon D850; the camera used to shoot the 20 minute film; the team decided that the documentary format would lend itself best to the project and allow potential customers to gain insight into the camera's functions.
“Dry technical specs and how-to videos don't cut it," says WE ARE Pi's founder and CEO, Alex Bennett Grant. "Today’s photographers are looking for genuine creative inspiration that will set them apart. We set out to demonstrate that Nikon’s D850 can transform wedding photography into landmark entertainment, inspiring a new perspective on what’s possible.”
Helmed by Pulse Films director Matt Houghton, the film has profiled couples who are in love, despite their non-traditional set-ups. UK-based Mike and Emma are getting married in spite of her terminal illness; whereas former US Army soldiers Esmeralda and Lindsay are tying the knot unashamedly despite having to initially hide their love while in the military. Ilanucă and Ionuţ are getting hitched and embracing Romanian traditions, having experimented with living in Paris but found the culture shock too much to handle; while Indian couple Priya and Divyabhan reveal their story about falling for each other even though their parents had pre-arranged their marriage.

Together with the film, wedding photographer Will Patrick has also released a series of shorter video clips, providing budding filmmakers with tips on how to make the most of their camera. From working the light, capturing details and transitioning between photography and film, videomakers are sure to feel confident snapping pics at any upcoming wedding.
