After the US legalised same-sex marriage in 2015, getting hitched has finally become an option for couples who never thought they would be able to marry each other. And this has meant that weddings themselves have had to adapt to appeal to same-sex couples - coordinating their dresses and suits, cake toppers and rainbow flowers to suit their requirements. And the song for their first dance is no exception.

This week, Kesha released a music video for her version of Janis Joplin's iconic track I Need a Man to Love as a suitable song for a first dance. In it, she re-imagines the track's lyrics, changing them instead to I Need a Woman to Love channelling the change in legislation.

Kesha is one of the six artists on the album Universal Love EP, released by MGM, that switches pronouns of popular wedding songs to suit same sex couples, as mentioned in last week's Weekly Rewind articleThe featured artists, ranging in genre, present their take on the classic love song. Bob Dylan re-releases He's Funny That Way and St. Vincent takes on And Then She Kissed Me. The six songs are available to stream online and the album artwork is filled with appropriately-themed psychedelic patterns and colors.

Kesha's involvement on the album was a no-brainer as she's an outspoken advocate for the LGBTQ communty, having performed at countless pride events.

In the promo, Kesha travelled to Las Vegas to officiate the wedding of Dani and Lindsay, making it the third same-sex wedding she has officiated. A behind the scenes video (below) shows the excited couple throughout their ceremony, sharing their heartfelt vows and their reception spent with friends and family. Their first dance is to Kesha's song and it's touching to know that an artist can use fame and notority to make someone's wedding day.
