In the market for a cute companion? A doggy soulmate who shares your appreciation for acid house or your passion for Puccini?

Well, thanks to a brilliant new initiative from Serviceplan Campaign X for Munich animal shelter Tierschutzverein München e.V, you can now find your perfect musical match in canine form. Yes, you read that right.

Inspired by a recent study from the University of Glasgow, which found that dogs have their own individual taste in music, the agency has teamed up with Spotify to launch 'Adoptify' - an initiative which pairs mutts from the shelter with potential owners based on their mutual musical tastes.

“No other music provider knows and analyses the musical preferences of their listeners as well as Spotify. We will use this to make recommendations to users by displaying dogs who like the same music in personalised video banners," says Hans-Peter Sporer, creative director at Serviceplan Campaign X.

As part of the campaign, a selection of pooches were assigned different musical genres - electro, classic, pop, rock and hip hop - and featured in personalised video banners listening to their favourite tracks (available on Spotify). Gloria the chihuahua, for example, is partial to a bit of hip-hop and seen raising a paw to Tyrone Briggs' Wear You Out - while electro fan Ray, a French bulldog, nods along to No Control's Don't Panic. The banners then lead to a microsite showing all participating dogs.

“As animal welfare officers, we attach great importance to any kind of original communication and increased awareness among the wider population," adds Jillian Moss, responsible for PR, advertising and fundraising at the Tierschutzverein München e.V. "We are proud to be pulling together with our two Adoptify partners, who are both market leaders in their respective sectors.”
