9. Boots Show Them You Know Them

Ogilvy London's first work for Boots since taking over the account from Mother sees an emotional story of two sisters shared in flashback after one gives the other a Christmas gift to which the response is, "hod did you know?". It's a sweet tale set to the strains of Yazoo's Only You.

 

8. Debenhams You Shall Find Your Fairytale Christmas Part 2

A modern romance is played out in JWT's Cinderella-inspired Christmas campaign for Debenhams. Helmed by Hanna Maria Heidrich, who injects a little magic into the festive film, the spot sees two strangers embark on a digital chase to find the other when a woman leaves a sparkly slipper behind on the train. Look out for Ewan McGregor's cameo. 

 

7. Waitrose Christmas Together 

Getting snowed in is a pretty appealing prospect when it involves a cosy pub well-stocked with Waitrose goodies. The upmarket supermarket's Christmas campaign, created by its long-term agency adam&eveDDB and directed by Martin de Thurah via Academy Films, is a nicely crafted black-and-white affair with a strong message about community spirit - a commodity that's in short supply at the moment.

 

6. Aldi Kevin the Carrot 2017 

Kevin the Carrot, Aldi's cute Christmas mascot, returns to screens in the supermarket's 2017 campaign. In the 60-second spot, created by McCann UK and directed by Psyop via Stink Films the cute animated vegetable embarks on another seasonal adventure when he hitches a lift on a luxurious sleeper train and stumbles upon a banquet of delicious food... and at the other end of the table, a toothsome lady carrot.

 

5. Argos Ready for Take Off 

Created by CHI&Partners and directed byIndependent's Gary Freedman the action takes place in an Argos warehouse populated by elves. When one elf notices a misplaced toy - a Teksta voice-recognition robotic puppy, to be exact - we enter a chase sequence that has elements of Star Wars, with it's futuristic spacecraft, and Mission: Impossible with the resultant high-stakes pursuit.

 

4. Very.co.uk Get More Out of Giving 

Directed by Swedish directing collective  via Passion Animation Studios, the heartwarming spot tells the tale of a kind-hearted little girl, Anna, who is determined to deliver a present to Santa.  Accompanied by her toy wolf, she sets off on an epic journey across a Frozen-esque landscape. But will she accomplish her mission before Christmas Day?

 

3. Sainsbury's Every Bit of Christmas 

Helmed by We Are From LA the ad marks  W&K's first offering for the brand since winning the account from AMV BBDO last year. While this year's spot is much more low key, it follows the brand's monochromatic advertising style throughout the year and continues to focus on real life families.

 

2. M&S Paddington & The Christmas Visitor

M&S has teamed up with Grey London to launch their first Christmas ad for the store, since winning the account from RKCRY&R, which features the beloved Paddington bear.

 

1. John Lewis Moz the Monster 

adam&eveDDB again prove that they're the masters of making Christmas magical with this fantastical spot starring a puppet as the protagonist. Directed by Partizan's Michel Gondry, who's tackling the Christmas campaign for the first time, this year's ad is about a young child who learns to befriend the monster that's hiding beneath his bed... causing him to sacrifice his evenings of sleep to enjoy playtime together.
