Boys, Head to the Yard: Kelis and Baileys Create Milkshake

Influencer marketing is tricky to pull off. You need to find the perfect influencer; one with a genuine link to your brand but one who can create something that doesn't just feel like an ad. Plus, you have to avoid the whole thing turning into a Fyre Festival-like fiasco.
Brands looking for an example on how to nail it could do a lot worse than look at Baileys' new online video featuring Kelis. Just in case you have somehow managed to get the earworm out of your head, Kelis is a singer best known for Milkshake, her 2003 song where she boasted that 'my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.' Until now, however, the singer (and Cordon Bleu trained chef) had never revealed the recipe of said milkshake.
However, in a new Baileys-sponsored video, she does exactly that, showing us how to make a milkshake combining ginger beer, chocolate ice cream, candied ginger, cayenne pepper, chilli, cinnamon and ginger infused whipped cream for garnish with enough Baileys to keep your gran from telling you her views about immigrants at Christmas (it's a technical term). Turns out that despite what the lyrics say, she will teach us even without charging. FAKE NEWS!
Though this is the first '00s RnB legend Baileys have teamed up with, they have previously sponsored food vloggers to create recipes using their Irish cream liquor. For example, they commissioned YouTube duo Crumbs food to create a Baileys cheesecake which they made in a 2015 video.
For those of you looking to bring all the boys to the yard (or indeed milkshake fans of any gender), the recipe is below, as found on Dazed:
1. Combine 3 oz Baileys, 8 oz of ginger beer, four scoops of chocolate ice-cream five pieces of candied ginger and a half teaspoon of cayenne pepper in a blender with ice.
2.Blend the milkshake until smooth.
3. Dip the rim of a glass in honey, before dipping in chilli and cinnamon sugar.
4. Pour into glass, top with ginger infused whipped cream and a piece of candied ginger.
5. Await all the boys in the yard.
shots anxiously awaits for this trend to catch on with other artists who have sung about food. Perhaps Don MacLean (or Madonna) could finally reveal the recipe for American Pie, or Del Monte can resurrect Prince to explain exactly a raspberry beret is. Though we're sure that one is filthy.
