SPF 350 sunscreen, low-acid water and apples containing 3% fruit are the products The Nature Conservancy Brazil present as a warning about our future.
For the campaign Products of Tomorrow, agency Africa is promoting the series of products on Facebook, with links taking people to a fake web store featuring the products alongside information of why we might need these products in the future. Alongside a a case film (which you can see above,) each product also has its own video, all directed by Gleeson Paulino:
In Sunscreen, the agency create a mock beauty ad for the suntan lotion, which promises consumers the chance to 'live outside...again'. The website goes on to explain, 'by 2070, the Earth may increase 4ºC on its average temperature. Spain and Italy will be as warm as the North of Africa. The intensity of the UV radiation will demand extra protection.'
Water, meanwhile, offers future shoppers the opportunity to 'remember freshness' with their product made from low-acid rain. The website explains: 'by 2037, two thirds of the population will have low access to potable water. Rainwater harvesting will be a reality, even with the increase of its acidity. To stay hydrated, you will need the less [sic] acidic water you can find.'
Finally, in Apple, the problem that 'by 2080, the cultivation of organic fruits will be close to impossibility' is highlighted through an apple that boasts of being 'made with 3% fruit.'
