Office of Baby: Get Involved in Unsick Day
Zocdoc launches a new initiative in which employees can claim a paid day off to check over their health.
In America, the average full time employee earns just 10 days’ worth of vacation per year... if they're lucky. As some employers can opt out of this scheme altogether.
In comparison with the UK's workers, this limited period of time off may seem ridiculously unfair considering British citizens receive a statutory 28 days’ paid annual leave.
Yet New York-based agency Office of Baby has decided that enough is enough and is taking action by launchingf Unsick Day.
Helmed by Crobin, the spot for online medical service Zocdoc aims to convince American employees that they should be able to take at least one day off per year where they attend regular health appointments.
Inspired by the fact that 85 percent of Americans frequently cancel health checks with their doctors and dentists because of work commitments, the campaign attempts to justify days off and create a culture in which Americans look after their health… before it gets too bad.
"This is not so much an ad campaign as it is a public service," says the agency's CCO Nathan Frank.
Companies including Virgin Hotels, service app Foursquare and health startup Greatist have already supported the initiative and are actively encouraging that their employees sign up.
