Despite enjoying a lengthy dominance of the English Premier League for years under manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United currently sit at the lowly level of seventh place in the table. However, despite a dip in fortunes after a change of coach in the summer following Fergie’s long overdue retirement, one thing that can’t be denied is that the football club’s brand is a global one and fans see the present state of affairs as purely temporary.

So then, with a faithful army of supporters in all corners of the world, demand is still very much up there for a chance to see the Red Devils in action, and Google+ is giving international followers a chance to get to one of the season’s headline fixtures this March via pitch-side advertising hoardings that will transmit their unique selfie video broadcasts.

A select group of United fans will have their mug shots appear during the home tie against fierce league rivals Liverpool on Sunday 16 March thanks to a caign competition called Front Row, being run in conjunction with Google+.

Faces of the winners will be transmitted and streamed live via Google+ Hangouts just off the field. To be in with a shout of winning the privilege, tech-savvy supporters are being invited to share pictures showing their support for the team on Google+ with the hashtag #MUFrontRow.

The execution is another exle of live interaction and real time marketing as seen earlier this week with Samsung’s strategy at the Oscars. The experimental Front Row caign utilises technology to bring a wider set of fans closer to the action and also places a certain element of power and responsibility in their hands with each fan image unique from the rest and forming part of the bigger picture.

The Promotion will close at 23:59 GMT tomorrow (Wednesday 5 March) and you can read more about the terms and conditions involved with Front Row here.
